The Escape Artist

I'm not saying I'm proud of this, I'm simply recounting what happened. If you are living anywhere in the Southeast right now or really anywhere across the country, you know it's pretty cold. That being said, I like to stay WARM. On my way home from an audition this week, I quickly zipped up my jacket and ran to the car. When I got home, I noticed the zipper was a little messed up, it had missed a little bit...so instead of pulling the zipper DOWN, like any normal person, I thought, "Hey, I'll try to pull it UP to see if that will fix it." No. No, it didn't. Not at all. It just pulled apart from the bottom up leaving only the very top of the zipper clinched shut. Needless to say this is a leather jacket with a higher neck, so now I'm trapped and can't get the jacket OFF! But, hey...at least I'm warm. It took about 30 minutes and the raw brute strength of my husband to work the zipper down far enough to slip it over my head. Unfortunately, I didn't think to capture this amazing Houdini act on film...don't worry, there WILL be another chance in the future, I'm sure...

Audition #4 - Homeland

I got an email last night about an Extras' Casting call being held for a new drama called "Homeland". The only problem was that the auditions were being held from 4-7pm in CONCORD, NC and I already had a gig at Duke in Durham until 4:30. The drive is a little over 2 hours and at rush hour through Greensboro...that's cutting it really close...IF I left right at 4:30.  Who said this was going to be easy, right? So of course the job in Durham is running about 25 minutes late today...I was getting so nervous... Randa, the incredible woman who runs the program at Duke, knew this was a big deal for me, and arranged for me to leave a little early putting me back on schedule but, still...you know...cutting it close. In spite of the white knuckle grip on the steering wheel, the 2 hour ride was made WITHOUT any traffic slowdowns! In true Tracey style, as soon as I crossed the parking lot, the strap to my bag broke...classy, that's me! BUT I made it to the auditions with enough time to make make it through the line. How exciting...it would be for an extra position, but...we've all got to start somewhere!

My First Week!

Well it's official...I'm now a professional actor!! Signed with Talent One Agency and have started auditioning my butt off. Last Wednesday was my last day with a regular paycheck. It's a little bit scary and a lot exciting to start pursuing your dream at 35 but that's exactly what I'm doing. Anyone who knows me realizes that I am an overacheiver, so I've given myself one year to make it!
